Faster Air

One of the most common heating systems in residential homes across America is the forced air system. These systems use a large fan to push warm air through a duct system and into the house. They are highly energy efficient and easy to install and maintain. In many homes they also serves as the cooling system in the warmer months. If you need installation or repair for your forced air system, Rocky HVAC provides reliable HVAC services.

The Process of a Forced Air System

The process used by a forced air system is actually very simple. There are essentially four main parts: the thermostat, the furnace, the air ducts or vents, and the blower. The system itself has three basic steps.

Step 1: The Thermostat is Set
In order to keep your home at a comfortable temperature, you probably set the thermostat at a temperature you like. This tells the heater when it should come on. The blower motor is connected to the heater, so it comes on when the heater does.

Step 2: Cold Air is Heated
When the blower motor turns on, it draws cold air into the system from your home. The air goes through a filter to remove all the allergens and dust before it goes into the heat exchanger in the furnace. The heater exchanger warms the air before it moves into the duct system.

Step 3: Warm Air is Forced Throughout the House
There are two different duct systems. One carries warm air away from the furnace. The other takes cold air back to the furnace. Once the air in the furnace has been heated, the blower pushed it through the duct system and out the vents in each room of the house.

This process is repeated until the temperature in the house matches the thermostat. Call our Rocky HVAC office at (410) 921-1277 if you need servicing for your forced air system in Severn and Baltimore, MD today.
